Discovered how the California Poppy makes her horn of plenty full of seeds... that horn that comes through the center of the gorgeous bright flowers and remains after petals fall...
This year I discovered how they were full of seed and how to collect them: as that when the pods warmed and dried (even inside) they would pop open and scatter! Many naturally fell unseen into the earth as evidenced by how they multiplied; and this year I collected some pods before the frost and brought them in.
I had no idea the seeds would spring out into the bowl! Then into a wee paper I wrapped them safe to hold.. their orange and cream secrets.. for next summer to unfold.
